A message from the Minister of St. Giles’, Calum I MacLeod
Welcome to the website of St. Giles’ Cathedral, Edinburgh, Scotland. St Giles’ is the High Kirk of Edinburgh and is positioned at the heart of the Scottish capital and has been since it was founded in 1124. In the 16th century St Giles’ became the focal point of the Scottish Reformation and consequently the church is regarded as the Mother Church of World Presbyterianism.
It is customary for us to be welcoming thousands of visitors from all over the world to our ancient and historic Cathedral. Of course, that will not be the case this year but I hope you as a ‘virtual visitor’ will find in these pages useful information about St. Giles’, resources for worship and devotions and some surprising and creative engagement with the history and current life of our church.
Whilst we are now reopen for services and visitors, we appreciate not everyone will want, or be able, to come back to St Giles’ straight away. We will continue to offer digital ways of interacting- details of the services can be found here and a virtual tour can be found here.
As you enjoy our website we ask that you consider supporting the ongoing ministry of St. Giles’ by making a donation here.
Blessings to you and yours.
