The Kong Affonso Duo welcome you to their recital at St. Giles Cathedral. No strangers to St Giles, this year will be the duo’s 8th appearance performing varied programmes of music from the Classical repertoire, through the Romantic, and Modern eras.
Tschong-Hie Kong and Alexis Affonso formed their piano duo in 1982 whilst both studying at the Banff Centre for Fine Arts in Alberta, Canada. The official launch of this piano duo took place in 1984 at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, to a packed concert hall and enthusiastic audience. They have also appeared as duo pianists in orchestral and choral music requiring such forces in Europe, North America and the Far East. They have recorded two CDs of piano duo/two piano music, both of which are available for purchase after the concert. Their next recital will take place in Wimbledon, London in early October. Music for two pianos and includes Stravinsky’s-The Rite of Spring, Rachmaninov’s Symphonic Dances and Ravel’s La Valse. Today’s recital includes well known piano duets by French composers of the Romantic era.
